March 2022

I'm a little short of things to write for this month because I had A Life Event that took up most of the month, but I have a couple of things to write about here!

Under the Stairs

This one's a bit of a cheat because I did the vast majority of the work last Spring, but had been putting off making the final touches until it came up in AMPDG, which, I think it's fair to say, I have stoppped doing on a monthly basis at this point.

So! I've kinda always wanted a pink room, and the closest I've ever got was orange, which was pretty awesome but not pink.

My under-the-stairs in this place is also floored along with the hallway, so I decided I would paint the walls and under-stairs, put up some fairy lights, and make myself a little cubbyhole for reading in or otherwise feeling cosy inside.

I'd originally planned to somehow use a small wooden palette to make a tiny bed in there, but the practicalities led me instead to get a pink beanbag, pink blanket (it's a really thick and soft one, too!), and finally a pink pillow-cover to use as a backrest. I finally put the pink pillow cover on this month.

Check it out!! I'm so happy with how it looks

With the door closed it feels very isolated, and the fit is almost lightproof too, so if I want I can just crawl in, keep the lights off, and have a pitch black and quiet place to chill out. I've accidentally fallen asleep in there at least once.

Finished Xena

I finished the watch-through of Xena: Warrior Princess that I started around Autumn 2019. The final story was extremely emotional, and a good end to the series.

That show consistently pulled off phenomenal season finales for at least the last four seasons (excluding the post-finale clip show at the end of season 4), what a feat. Ultimately I think it was the right call to end the show though; season 6 was excellent but you could tell they'd rather run out of places to go with the narrative after season 5. But what a ride.

All is not lost though, because I have Season 2 of Cleopatra 2525 to get stuck into soon. I haven't started it at the time of writing (I'm mostly catching up on free TV before signing back up to Netflix, probably) but series 1 was pleasantly and wildly bizarre and I'm looking forward to more of that.
