iguana: The Tilley Hemp Hat (Default)
[personal profile] iguana
I woke up with the last few days' persistent headache again, which developed throughout the morning, but a big greasy dinner (macaroni pre-made from the freezer) seemed to finish it off this evening, and I managed to get out into the front garden to do some weeding and general maintenance. Lots of dandelions and thistles up, several straggly rose bushes trimmed, a couple of fuchsias popped, and some ants nests killed. I discovered a small (~1m high) conifer tree hidden within some buddleja, which I think I'll keep, though I'll need to keep an eye on it because all the houses in this road have a covenant stating nothing over 1.5 metres in the front. (People seem to be taking that with a pinch of salt overall, but at any rate I don't want a colossal conifer in the front either. I think it's a thuja, which may not get all that much higher anyway depending on the variety.

My garden waste bin fills up way too fast.

I have taken some cuttings from the rosemary in the back garden to see if any of them take root in some water. If so I may plant them out the front in the currently very weedy flower beds as very easy to maintain alternatives. They'll grow quickly but I can also be pretty brutal with cutting them back and know they'll recover.

I decided to try the spelt flour I ordered from Holland & Barrett when flour was short, and it rather badly failed, sinking completely in the middle. Oh well, it'll probably toast well!

I got another bitlbee feature merged! Group reply feature, so that it doesn't look like I'm untagging everyone in a thread when I reply to one item. It was a bit of a sloppy patch it turns out (bad indentation formatting and no docs, naughty Kathy) but dx received it well.

Played Codenames and Drawful with Ems and Tim this evening. My best effort. I think I speak for us all when I say it'd be great to have more players. Pete and Matt often join, but with just three people there's always an annoying "decoy" answer that's so easy to spot. Let me know!
