For the first week of this month Emily and I were in Edinburgh and Lindisfarne, which I've already written about.

Last weekend we went to Central Park in Greenwich, which is right outside the Millennium Dome, to have a go on the bouncy stonehenge that was set up there as part of a UK-wide tour.

Needless to say, it was massive fun! We spent about an hour and a half in total on it, including breaks to catch our breath. We had also met up with Emily's friends, and afterwards we all went to the nearby Odeon cinema to watch The Dark Knight Rises, which was reasonable enough but not a patch on the previous film. After that finished we went to the same restaurant in Greenwich as we had eaten at for Emily's birthday earlier this year, where we had tasty tasty pizza.

The next day, Emily, little Lindisfarne the tiger, and I went up to Leicester Square, where the Prince Charles Cinema had a sing-along Lion King event going on. I massively misguessed the target age range of this event, which I had expected to be largely people our age after some Disney nostalgia, and there were a few, but mostly it was parents with little children, who didn't know the words! In the intermission there was face-painting and a costume competition. It was a really fun couple of hours!

Afterwards, we walked along the Thames Southbank to London Bridge, then returned to Greenwich Peninsula after getting the idea to ride the Thames cable cars (okay, fine, the Emirates Air-Line) the day before, and took the short journey from North Greenwich to Royal Victoria. It was a bright sunny day, and we got a great view of the Thames Barrier and Excel Centre on one side and the Millennium Dome on the other.

On the way to work one morning last week, Emily and I walked through Soho Square where there was a table-tennis table set up there for some reason. It wasn't being used so we played a game before I carried on to the office. Pretty awesome, whoever put that there!

This weekend I went to my parents' for my dad's birthday. We had Moroccan Lamb Couscous for dinner and then taste-tested Guylian seashells chocolates against Sainsbury's clone of them. (Sainsbury's tasted like basic shaped chocolates; nice enough but Guylian won.) Today I went to my brother's place to watch the F1 Grand Prix.

I stayed up on Friday night to watch the Olympic opening ceremony. It was the first opening ceremony I've seen and although I was sceptical to begin with (especially when it started off with a child singing a hymn), it turned out to be very enjoyable overall, and anything that celebrates the NHS gets my vote.
